On Thursday 8th May, Helston holds it's world-famous Flora Day. Held every year, it attracts visitors from all over the world to witness the spectacular dancing through the decorated streets.
An ancient festival to herald in good harvests for the summer, dancing begins at 7.00am and builds throughout the day to include an enactment of St. George and St. Michael slaying the dragon and the devil, a children's dance at 10.00am, principal dance at noon, and the renowned Flora Dance at 5.00pm.
The streets are lined with people dressed in Elizabethan finery, and the Helston Town Band lead the dancers through the shops and streets.
Visitors are advised to park outside the town due to the extreme popularity of this event.
